Daryl researched all of his honolulu self storage options before moving here from Los Angeles. He was most impressed with our website and knew exactly which size he wanted before coming in. However, we didn’t have that size available for him. We had some smaller units open, though. Daryl left his information with us and we’d make sure to call him as soon as his larger unit became available.

Touring Smaller Units

A few weeks later, Daryl came in asking about the larger unit. Unfortunately, because these are in high demand, we didn’t have any available for him. So, we took him up to tour the smaller unit and see if he could make it work. We were having fun talking and laughing on the whole tour that it was more entertaining than we both thought it would be!

He ended up going with this smaller unit because he was desperate for some storage and didn’t want to go with the one closer to his home. Storage Nearby for House Floods

Jonathan and Alisha were in need of storage nearby after their house flooded. Hurricane Lane brought heavy rains, and although it didn’t damage Oahu like it did to the Big Island, some families were still affected.

Their home was flooded and they immediately needed storage nearby to house their things in a dry, safe environment. In the meantime, they planned to clear and repair their home. Luckily, we had a unit for them that fit their needs. They didn’t need a large unit, just a small one for their valuables. We had a perfect fit.

Storage units can be helpful in times of emergency and natural disaster. With the recent Hurricane Lane passing through the islands, we all had our fair share in experiencing a panic and rush to prepare for the hurricane.

Panic Before the Storm

Oahu saw a rush of traffic and long lines at grocery stores in the week leading up to the expected Hurricane Lane. Gas stations also had long lines as people were stocking up on necessities to prepare for the hurricane. It was a panic, to say the least. This was one of the biggest, most potentially dangerous hurricanes the islands were expecting since Hurricane Iniki came through in 1992.  The hurricane had a minimal impact on Oahu compared to the other islands like Maui, Kauai and the Big Island.

Storage Units Preparedness

We emphasize that being prepared and having stockpiles are important things to practice. For example, your storage units could be used to fill with these necessary items in preparation for the storm or hurricane. We strongly suggest this, especially during hurricane season. Prepared storage units would come in handy for when the grocery stores sell out or when disaster strikes and your personal stockpiles run out.
