Eric at Audio Resources Hawaii

Dillingham Self Storage is always supportive of small businesses, like Eric who has been a storage tenant with us since ‘09. He owns Audio Resources Hawaii and provides the sound systems for big events on the island, working with artists and events like Kapena and “Hot Hawaiian Nights.” He started with 4 units and now has 2 (one outside drive-up unit and one inside. He’s one of our few tenants that utilizes all of our services – printing, storage and Uhaul rental trucks. We also accept mail for him – at no charge for small businesses. Because we receive mail for him, he’s usually here a few times a week. Most of the events that he does are on this side of the island so location is convenient for him.

The Dilly Print shop also prints his annual Christmas card for his family. We love talking to Eric when he comes over, sometimes we’ll be in the office for an hour just talking story with him! He always the invites the staff to come out to the events that he’s working.

How to move out 101

Dillingham Self Storage tries to simplify the moving-out process for tenants as easy and stress-free as possible. For example, most other storage companies will require tenants to give a 30-day notice prior to moving out. Here at Dillingham we don’t require that, all we ask is that if they do plan to move out, that they do so by the last day of the month. Their unit ought to be vacated by 9 pm on the last day with the lock off the door. We walk through the building the morning after the last day of the month and will call or email tenants who appear to have moved out to complete the process.

While moving out we recommend to pack items in the smallest box possible, either small or medium sizes. Large boxes are too difficult to carry/stack/fit in a car and small boxes are far more efficient to carry quickly. We sell these kind of boxes in our lobby to make it easier for tenants who run out of boxes!

Patrick at Primo Popcorn

We love hosting local businesses at Dillingham Self Storage, especially when they have yummy popcorn, like Patrick Sato at Primo Popcorn!

Patrick has been a tenant with us since March ‘14 and currently leases a 10 x 10 unit. He owns a pretty big primo popcorn sore on sand island sells a variety of popcorn along with apparel featuring local slang. He always gives the Dillingham staff something to sample  We even asked Patrick to provide popcorn for our a friend’s graduation party.

Right now Patrick’s business is expanding and he’ll be needing a bigger unit soon. The next size up is a 10 x 15 however he’ll be on a waitlist for a while for this unit because we’re full at the moment.

Patrick has been considering alternatives, like our first floor units that offer outlets and power. These are 10 x 20 in size. Someone recently moved out of one of these units.

“There’s no way I could pass this up,” Patrick said. Patrick has a very laid back, mellow personality and we’re so happy to see his business grow! We wish you the best of luck, Patrick!
